I'd love a little tattoo maybe a butterfly on my lower back or a little dolphin/flower down by my belly button region.
I probably won't do it cos i don't like pain or needles but I was just wondering which parts of the body hurt most or least.
My bf wants one on his 'pec' area ouch!
Where does it hurt the most / least?
My advice is dont do anything on your belly.Sooner or later you may have kids and your flower will look like a tree.
Reply:i have 3 tattoo's my upper arm, my shoulder and my lower back, the shoulder 1 hurt the most and my upperarm the least, must be because there's more flesh there.
Reply:ur lower back, shoulder blade , ankle and your whole back will hurt the most..i have two ..one on my left shoulder blade which didnt hurt too bad but the one on my ankle i could have kicked the tattooist ..and dont get one on the belly button or hip area..cause if you were to have kids it will stretch terrible and never get back to shape..
Reply:I was told it hurts more where there is bones. it did hurt me, but the pain was minimal only while he was doing it. I want another small one but it is also in an all bone area, and right now I am still chicken.
As far as your bf I can't imagine cause he has to answer the question will it be stretched or wrinkle? If you know what I mean.
Reply:hurts like hell on the breast bone ribs area, ithink any bone part hurts bad, i think the more exposed parts are less painful, it hurts near nipples and armpits as well.
Reply:my lower back hurt like u wouldn't believe!!!
back of my neck-no pain at all
stomach, above hip-more pain nearer the hip bone
my ankle and top of foot-slight discomfort then went numb...but pain at the achilles and bone at ankle.
getting my 5th done today!!! just above my shoulder blades.
Reply:The ribcage hurts alot. And the inside of the bicep.
Reply:hay its amy ive got two tattos trust they hurt but its a pain u can take ive got a lond tatto on my lower bk and a playboy bunny on my stomach both hurt bad but it is worth it when u are showing them off lol
Reply:In the short term it will hurt most wherever it's boney. Get it where there is a good deal of muscle.
In the long term it will hurt your self-respect and pride when you are much older (month or two later) and realize that you have a tatoo of a butterfly/dolphin/flower.
Reply:The ribs are meant to be the worst place ever ......
Reply:I've got two...one on my back which didn't hurt TOO badly and one on my hip bone which hurt like hell! Anywhere on the bone rather than a fleshy area will hurt more.
Reply:please don't get a butterfly or doplhin. those are the most trite overused tattoo designs ever. if you're getting something small, the pain is negligible since it won't take that long to complete. get creative already!
Reply:I didint find any of my tatoos painfull but i wouldint advise anything close to bone on your ankle
If you dont want discomfort i would recomed the top of your arm
Reply:well if you get one in any place over time the color will fade and if you gain any weight it will strech but if you were to get one a place were theres more fat is the best place to go....
Reply:Why do you want a tattoo?
Personally I find tattoo's ugly, a big turn off and why people say that they are or make them more individual I don't know because we all are individual at the end of the day.
You also risk infection from septicaemia and people have died from septicaemia as well as other nasty things.
If you must, go to one that is registered and you know the tools are surgically cleaned.
Reply:it hurts on bony , skinny bits, but if u get a bit with a bit of fat (examples (not saying u r fat in these places): bottom, belly, thigh, top of arm / just below shoulder.. you know.. places where the bone isnt too near the skin...)
Good luck x
Reply:hurts most
women-ankle/boobs
men-ankle/penus
hurts least
bum or hair
Reply:A tattoo is going to involve some degree of pain regardless of where it is applied, but I would assume that it would be the most painful where the skin is thinnest.
Reply:The less fat there is on the area being tattooed, the more it hurts.
The lower back would look nice, but it would hurt A LOT. And the stomach, as many people have told you, will grow as you grow.
I got my first tattoo last summer. Its on my private area, lower waist, ... I don't exactally know how to describe where it is, but its there. If I end up not liking it later, its covered by my pants, underware, whatever. When i got it, i didn't take into consideration that it will grow when i get pregnant, or if I gain weight. It didn't hurt too much, it felt like a scratch at most.
You can get temporary tattoos, to try them on and see if you like them in that area. Most tattoo shops will put [i'm not sure what it's called exactally] the tracing on your skin, and you can look in a mirror to see how it looks.
Reply:Hi. Unfortunately there are a lot of people on here who don't know what they are talking about and I wonder why they are answering questions on subjects they are ignorant of.
I have lots of tattoos, and know a lot about them, their application, and the tattoo sub culture. I have heard every anti-tattoo argument going, and they are all lame. Those people who say you will get infected, get sceptacemia and die, are talking rubbish. Yes, you must ensure you go to a proper tattoo parlour that is registered, uses fresh needles and autoclaves the equipment, as long as they do this you will be fine, and all registered tattooists do. And there is no evidence of tattoos causing cancer of any kind, of giving you aids or hepetitis are anything like that, load of rubbish!!
And the arguement that you will regret it when you are older obviously depends on what you have done and where. I am 33 yrs old, have a highly professional job, and love my tattoos. I met a lady in her 80s at a convention last year, covered head to toe in tattoos, and whilst it may not be most peoples choice, she was very proud of her art and happily showed it off.
so in short, tattoos are great if you go to a good artist (remember, not all tattooists are actual artists, they need to be skilled artistically as well as able to apply the tattoo) who is registered and approved by the health service. with regards to pain its very individual. Looks to me like you'll be going for something small so the pain will only last as long as they are applying the tattoo, so maybe 10-20 mins which is nothing for something that will last a lifetime.. and remember to follow the aftercare instructions word for word, and you will have an amazing tattoo you will be proud of for a long time to come! good luck, and go for it, you only live once!
Reply:tattoo's hurt most around bony areas such as your back and neck areas! fatty bits like your bum and stomach (not saying you are fat!) dont hurt as much and the area doesnt bleed much after having a tattoo!
lower back does hurt quite a lot!
Reply:The most uncomfortable place on the whole body for a tattoo is the sole of the foot...I know several tattooists who say they will do it there for free because they know no-one can handle the pain involved!
After the sole of the foot, the abdomen is the most uncomfortable area, this is because all the vital organs are here so the body is naturally highly sensitive in this area to encourage you to protect them.
Many people think that the inside of the arm is the most painful place, but having experienced tattooing on my chest followed immediately by the inside of my left arm, I would say the chest is A LOT more painful! This is because most of the nerves from the front of the arm pass across the pectoral muscle, so this area is very sensitive.
Bony areas are not so much painful as uncomfortable, but mainly it just feels weird to be tattoo'd there. I could feel all the tendons in my neck vibrating as my collar bone was tattoo'd, but it wasn't massively painful.
The ankle can be uncomfortable, but the most painful places in this area are the ankle bone itself and the tendons that control the movement of the foot (especially the achillies tendon).
The front of the ankle was not as painful as I expected, but again, it felt weird as my toes were moved by the vibration of the needle.
The most sensitive areas seem to be where two muscles join (i.e. the gap that isn't muscular but just soft tissue). There are many of these around the body and they are not always where you expect them to be (I "discovered" one in the middle of my calf when i was tatoo'd there).
All tattoos are painful to a degree, but the human body is surprisingly adaptive, and after a relatively short period of time the body adjusts to the pain. Even though it is not generally pleasant (there will be people who disagree with me there no doubt) it is easily bearable so long as you can focus on something apart from the pain involved.
Reply:I just got one a couple weeks ago on my upper back, it didn't hurt at all, just a little bit uncomfortable when they went over certain places, like when he started to get close to my shoulder blades, it kind of sent a chill up my spine but other than that it wasn't painful at all. Here is a pic of my tattoo, if you get a butterfly this size or smaller, it will not take that long to do.

Reply:i have seven tattoos (3 at the top of my back, 1 at the bottom, 1 around my left ankle %26amp; down onto my foot, one on my right foot %26amp; 1 on my right arm) %26amp; was told by a tattooist the most painful place is where theres a lot of muscle eg the stomach %26amp; its abad place because of stretching mine hurt most on my lower back %26amp; i dont find it particularly painful against a bone my newest one at the top of my arm hurt least it depends on your pain threshold
Reply:Hi, i have 4 tattoos and neither of them hurt really. well saying that 3 of them aint much bigger than a 50pence piece!
However i do have a massive bird of paradise on my back that took 2hrs to do and after a while it did start to sting i must admit. It kinda feels like really bad sun burn and imagine some one with a pin and gently scratches it, thats how i would explain the 'pain' anyway.
I also think the buzzing from the needle thing doesn't help people that are frightened of needles, but honestly you dont feel the needle going in n out more of a rubbing sensation.
Go For It!!
Reply:Well I went to a tattoo studio to talk about the placement of mine, and he said that if I was to put one anywhere between my hips on my belly region that If I got pregnant or gained wieght it would never look the same again. I have heard that the lower back hurts, anywhere thats tight skin over bone will hurt. Your best bet if you want a tattoo that wont hurt (as much) would be on your arm or on your leg (not your ankle though). And I think your boyfriend is nuts for wanting on in that region. Im getting mine on my ribcage on my side. It will hurt but I can take the pain. you need to ask yourself if you really want this, if you do you wont mind the pain..
Reply:the best place to have tattoos is on the less fattier parts of the body like on your sholder blade for instance
Reply:A tattoo will hurt no matter where you put it! However, it does hurt less where the body has plenty of muscles eg on the arm. On the back where there's hardly any muscle it hurts more (experience). And don't forget: everybody has a different pain-level. One can deal with more, one with less pain!
Reply:think it depends on how sensitive 2 pain u r...
i got one on my arm, shoulder n lower bck they werent 2 bad actually quite addictive..
however had 2 get 1 on lower bck redone as colour faded n it was painfull as it was over scar tissue....
I would guess ur ankle n back of ur arms on the sensitive skin wud b sare
