Table Setting and Presentation?

Part of our small school is cooking for the other half, and i am in charge of table presentation. Any ideas. I already have name cards, a purple tablecloth, candles and flowers. We are doing a five star resurant theme. But the plates ans silver ware have to be plastic. Any other ideas for table presentation...so make it look less platic and chinsy?

Table Setting and Presentation?
A party store carries lovely plates in beautiful patterns that you can coordinate with your tablecloth. As it is spring, you can find some with purple flowers on it. If you get the clear plasticware, it won't look bad.

Also, you might want to get paper doilies to place under each setting to give it a delicate touch. Paper cups can be bought that match the paperware.

Nice flowers in low vases would look nice on the table. Perhaps you could find some flowers that would pick up the dish patterns if you go with a floral design.

If the table cloth is a solid color, instead of putting the paper doilies under each setting, you could run them down the middle (lengthwise) sort of like a runner.

Napkins could match or pick up a particular color. Like maybe the same pattern or a solid color picking up a color from the plates.

If you are allowed, use tea candles to add atomsphere.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!!!!
Reply:place mats, they make the paper ones with scalloped edges or you could even trim them yourselves out of butcher paper (the kind most schools have on big rolls in the teachers' workroom)

look up some origami folded napkins to put at each place setting, some of these are really simple to do, but will have a really nice effect

also, if you use a larger white tablecloth to the floor under your colored cloth it will look more finished.
Reply:I like parties where people can mingle. So I always do a buffet table or tables that people can move around to. I found these amazing things called sure legs on the internet and they raise the tables to counter top height. Everyone is always impressed because the tables look fabulous.
