In the lower part of texas (corpus christi, brownsville, galeston, and up to waco) are there a lot bluebonnets

if there arent bluebonnets,

what other type of

flower grows (in abundance and

naturally for the most part) around the

corpus christi, san antonio,

and waco area?

In the lower part of texas (corpus christi, brownsville, galeston, and up to waco) are there a lot bluebonnets
While the Texas Bluebonnet is seen in all parts of the state, and is now more common due to the highway department spreading blubonnet seeds along the major roadways. The flowers most often seen around Corpus Christi, Brownsville and Galveston, are those better suited to the Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes and Coastal Sand Plains biomes found along the Texas Gulf Coast. You are more likely to see Daisies and Indian Paintbrush in this area.

The Bluebonnets are more naturally seen in large amounts in the Edwards Plateau, Central Plains and Blacklands Prarie Biomes. These start around San Antonio and spread northwest and northeast towards and to the east of the Dallas area. I usually find that while the highway department speads the seeds along the interstates, the best viewing of the bluebonnets and the wildflowers in general is to follow the state highways through the ranchlands, as the bluebonnets, indian paintbruah and daisies are most beautiful in the open fields of the ranches. You will see these varieties in large numbers in the country around Waco.
Reply:It really depends on where you are in this area. South texas is a big area covering vast lands. For a fact, there are lots of bluebonnets around San Antonio, and there are a lot in the roads between San Antonio and corpus christi. But i know its against the law in San Antonio to cut down bluebonnets
Reply:The Texas Paint brushes and Indian Blankets are also beautiful during the spring. I like the Mexican Hat and Brown Bitterweed as well. Here are some photos. If you drive up near Fredricksburg and go toward Johnson City you will see many many many of these for great landscape photos with nice old barns in the background and rolling hills for real authenticity. If you want to stay local, just head out to Brackenridge Park and Wurzbach Pky. It's especially nice right before Easter.
