I wanted to feed my hamster, Bella, broccoli but I'm not sure if it eats it raw or not. Do they eat broccoli raw, with stem, and etc? Can it eat any parts of the broccoli or a specific part like the stem or flower part? Please answer ASAP XD
Do hamsters eat broccoli?
Parts of broccoli is good but only once in a while as a hamster diet is more on grains etc. Check out http://www.hamster-club.com/feeding.asp for feeding
Reply:yep hamsters eat almost anything broccoli and cheese ect but there fave foods are those from there native habitat like seeds, cereals and nuts
Reply:It is probably okay to give it to them raw. But of course consider your little hamster's size - a whole piece of broccoli would be too much. Hamsters have sensitive digestive tracks and an overdose of any vegetable (especially leafy greens) can cause diarrhea. I would recommend giving your little hammy a small piece of lettuce (no bigger than a post-it note for a regular hamster, half that for a dwarf breed) and a baby carrot once a week to keep him/her hydrated and satisfy his/her crunchy craving. Some people also give their hamster a dime-size of raw beef or chicken as in the wild they would eat bugs. My dad has given his hamster raw hamburger and his hammy seems to love it (though I want to gag, blech!).
Reply:I give mine the stem part and its perfectly healthy for him..I even asked the vet but she advised me that grains are best for him
Reply:They eat mostly grains like corn but they also eat fruit, vegetables (like carrots), and insects....
You're best giving him grains. They will give him alot more energy than broccoli would.
Reply:yes they do
