My pea plants were growing nicely here in the DC area, but they all now seem to be getting yellow leaves around the base and the bottom of the stalks. The upper parts of the plants are flowering and dark green.
Could this just be due to the heat? Fusarium? Something else? Would watering help? It's been about 65 at night and up to 90 in the day the last week, and it looks like this is going to continue.
If they're just going to rot due to sickness or disease, I'll rip them out now and plant other things there.
Thanks.
Sad pea plants--sick or just too hot?
Peas like cool weather and even grow well in half shade. Make sure you water them at night or early morning as they burn easily. So many things could be causing your plants to do this. Soil content , fertilizer (too much or too little) root rot, bugs.......... My experience in the past what you describe has been plants that become spindly with little or no produce.......good luck
