Can rabbits eat dandelions?

i heard that rabbits love dandelions!!!!!!!!! but can they eat the flower part as well as the stem

Yum yum! They are amazing as a food source - they'll eat the lot and its all just as tastey and good for them.



Just be careful that you know they have no weedkiller or pesticides on them at ALL - you need to know they are organic.



I have a huge plant pot full of them and grow tham like i would any vegetable, just to be sure they are 100% safe.

Reply:Yes they can, but as with all green food don't give them too much at one time or they will get diarreah. Make sure they have their pellets as well. Wild rabbits are free to roam and eat a variety of foods they know to be good for them and therefore regulate their bowels themselves naturally.

And yes they can eat the flower as well.
Reply:Dandelion buds and flowers are eagerly accepted. Make sure they're buds and not finished dandelion flowers. The leaves are also good, especially first leaves from small first year plants.

Reply:Yes they love them ! If you are unsure of you rabbit eaten any plants in your garden there are leaflets you can pick up from your local vets or pet shop that list all the plants your rabbit can and plants can harm your rabbit!

Reply:Rabbits do love dandelions, but remember that dandelion is diuretic. Its French name is pis-en-lit and in English 'piss-a-bed'!" A green diet for rabbits should consist of a mixture of plants so the overall effect is balanced. Too much of one green foodsource can cause problems. Diuretics and astringents can cancel each other out. I used to breed rabbits, feeding them on concentrate and on greens. A book I found very useful (but unfortunately gave away) was 'Green Foods For Rabbits And Cavies'. Library? The odd dandelion flower never did mine any harm, but they often ignored them.
