Can anyone name my fragrant plant?

I've recently found some new plants in our yard and I'd really like to identify them. They look a whole lot like Queen Anne's Lace or poison hemlock. I mean the leaves because they haven't flowered yet. They are in a flat sunny part of our yard. They weren't planted so I guess they're a weed or wildflower of some sort. We live in southern Indiana.

My main interest in them is the wonderful smell the leaves emit when bruised or crushed. Can't really describe it but it's better than many flowers I've smelled.

Anyway, hope I haven't been going about sniffing a handful of hemlock all day!

Queen Anne's Lace is a member of the carrot family, and there are a number of herbs in that family as well, dill being one of the most prominent. I would be careful even just handling it until you find out for sure what it is. I wound up with a chemical burn from the herb Rue. Guess where it gets it's name?! I agree with the first poster - that's what your local extension agent is for.
Reply:I would definitely check with your local County Extension office to be sure it is not hemlock or any other poisonous thing. You may have to cut a piece of stem off and take it to them, but it's worth it if turns out to be an undesireable! Does it by chance smell like carrot?
Reply:it sounds like Feverfew or maybe Yarrow.
